I am writing this from an American Airlines flight back to Miami after almost three weeks in the big apple. We came with the best intentions, to enjoy the world famous Christmas atmosphere NYC has to offer. COVID seemed like a thing of the past, that was until OMICRON…
It started with a text message “I tested positive '' followed by “the party’s canceled”, There was an eerie slowness all around, while I enjoyed walking into Paul’s Baby Grand without the usual bouncer scrutiny, it didn’t feel like it was full on New York.
Then came the emails. My building demanded I wear a mask in my own home and tasked me with enforcing an immoral and unconstitutional vaccine mandate on anyone I had the temerity to employ. Worried messages came in from my mom, clearly jostled by mainstream media and their endless hysteria.
Finally it became verbal. Curt “please put your mask on sir” greated me at once friendly places. No one seemed interested in the fact masks don’t work, they only wanted to follow the rules.
Something scary is happening in New York. A once rebellious zone for anarchists and freethinkers has been nurtured by left wing group think. I have never seen such an uncritical and unthinking horde of cowardly rule followers. These people did not build the city, and clearly contribute little from behind their MacBooks at trendy coffee shops, but they have seized control. Don’t expect them to give it back anytime soon.
So what does this all mean going forward? Here are my prediction for 2022 in New York City
Booster Shots will be Mandated
Let me take a trip into the land of gossip. My barber cuts the hair of one of the Governor’s speech writers, and apparently by mid January to be fully vaxed will include the booster.
I refuse to get the booster, and you should too. We have learned that at best the vaccine which has cost billions of dollars is marginally effective at preventing severe illness. There is zero case to be made that the vaccine makes the virus less transmissible, there is zero reason it should be required (let's not ask liberals to use logic of common sense).
This booster mandate will be a breaking point. In NYC, most of the unvaccinated are poor minorities (not the white Trump voters the Media has made the bogeyman) and the backbone of the city.
Even moderates are getting tired of it. When asked, everyone from maintenance men to tailors and waiters are sick of the COVID policy. They’re being held hostage by an elite unconcerned with anything other than power and politics. This elite, as we see with AOC’s Miami Vacation, don’t live by their own rules.
Mask will become a permanent feature of the city
New Yorkers will not give up their masks anytime soon. The earth tone wearing liberal professional classes cling to them with the insistent urgency of a toddler enthralled with his blankie. It’s become the new norm of civility and cleanliness as well as a symbol that one kisses the ring of the leftist overlords.
My favorite part of the trip was not wearing my mask on the Subway. Working class cops as well as MTA employees are clearly shadow striking on the enforcement of these rules. I love seeing a liberal panic as you approach them with a big smile, terrified that someone is questioning the regime. Feels a bit like wearing a Ronald Reagan hat in 1987 red square.
I understand the argument that you should not provoke other people, but it’s too late for that. They need to be shown that mask or no mask we’re all human. That life goes on without a mask. And finally that we will not be cowed by their irrational fear. The liberals are great at passing the buck, rules are never anyones falt, like the Nazis of yore they are just doing their job.
To be a good citizen in modern America, you must rebel against the mask. Make a point to go places without masks, it’s your civic duty to provoke and protest. The easy road is to be meek and comply but unless we collectively fight our children and children’s children will grow up in a world where they cannot see a stranger’s smile. Who know what else lies down this slippery slope.
The Exodus with continue and intensify
In 2022 more people will escape to free Red States. New York had a chance this Fall to turn it around. Things were opening up, life was coming back, but then the city alowed itself to give into terror.
Why live in a place where you’ve got to wear masks? Why choose a home that forces you to show your papers to eat a sandwich? These are not small things because the goal posts are continually being moved. Why believe the authorities anymore when everything they say turns out to be false?
All of this will be good for Florida and Texas, which will become the urban and cultural bright spots of the 21st century. NYC feels dead, like a shadow of its former self. Miami is alive and buzzing with optimistic energy. The smart money has it that these trends will continue.
SAD TO SEE
I love New York and hate to see this happening. I wish we could go back to the exciting alive city of the past. To be honest I feel guilty that I didn’t do more personally to fight back against the liberals who have seized our greatest city.
I am hopeful with Eric Adams as the new mayor. He sees the urgency, being sworn in on New Years, not allowing the wretched Bill De Blasio power for more than an extra second.
Now I live in Florida, and while in some ways I wish I could continue the fight in NYC in my heart I know it’s too late for them. The evil that has infected the New York soul is far more sinister than COVID.
There are still good people, but they are further and farther between. Most New Yorkers are not free people, but are slaves to either corporate, academic or government interests. These power groups have coalesced to form a new world order based on ideology.
Without autonomy, they are not real citizens. Not that they value it as we see with the decision to give non citizens the right to vote in local elections. They are ashamed of the past, not proud of either the city or nations accomplishments.
We must do what we can to defend against these insidious weak individuals that form a collective authoritarian monster. Make no mistake, this is what's happening. We must all stand up.
RIP 😢 NYC
Sorry you feel that way Andrew. Thought you were more enlightened.
